Grammamanti per me rientra esattamente in questa categoria. L'ho iniziato con aspettative alte, ma posso dire che le ha addirittura superate. Non solo vince facile per l'argomento trattato, che ha riacceso in me la scintilla per la linguistica (e mi ha fatto venire voglia di tornare a scrivere tesi sull'ipotesi Sapir-Whorf), ma è anche scritto in modo conciso e accessibile a tuttɜ, grazie anche alla presenza di aneddoti che rendono la lettura scorrevole, interessante e vicina allo spettatore. Da ultimo, ma non per questo meno importante, sostiene e fa riflettere su una tesi che approvo in toto: amare la propria lingua significa lasciarla libera di evolvere e accogliere i cambiamenti.

I felt like this while reading this Italian book about loving your mother tongue so much, you set it free and let it grow and develop without constraining it to fixed, old rules. This book rekindled my love for words and Linguistics. It brought me back not only to the uni days of philology and semiotics classes, but also to the beautiful intersectional translation course I took some years ago.
I particularly appreciated the fact that it is written in a clear and fluent way, accessible even to those who do not have a great deal of linguistic knowledge. Moreover, just like my favorite essays, it contains interesting anecdotes that make the reading even more engaging.
