Mask

Female face mask from the Dan people, Mali, 20th century. Exceptionally slender, it features a broad, smooth forehead defined by prominent brow ridges and surmounted by a coiffure of fiber. The face tapers to a pointed chin and has large, perfectly round eye sockets. The surface is finished with a glossy black patina. The work is part of the Bassani Collection (inv. AFR 00028 2513A).
