Descrizione
Helmet mask of the Komo society of the Bamana people of Mali, dating to the 20th century. The mask consists of a hemispherical cap surmounted by ears and small roan antelope horns, and features elongated jaws ending in warthog tusks, which served as containers for ritual “medicine.” The surface is characterized by a thick sacrificial patina. The work is part of the Bassani Collection and is housed at the MUDEC – Museum of Cultures in Milan (inv. AFR 000042513A).
