Mask

Mask of the Pende people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, dating to the 20th century. The work features a face with a long beard marked by numerous holes, to which raffia fibers were originally attached. Traces of different pigments, including red, yellow, and black, remain visible on the surface of the face. The work belongs to the Franco and Laura Monti Collection and is housed at MUDEC – Museo delle Culture di Milano.
