Mask

Mask attributable to the cultural sphere of the We (Gueré) population of Ivory Coast, dating to the 20th century. The work features long whiskers made of animal hair, a crown of cowrie shells, and fabric bands emerging from the back of the structure. The face is marked, around the eyes, by two white and red painted stripes, while the slightly open mouth reveals metal teeth. Formerly part of the Franco and Laura Monti Collection, the mask is now housed at the MUDEC in Milan.
