[n.a.] [n.d.] Photograph depicting a bronze African sculpture representing a king. The photograph, at the Ragghianti Photo Archive, along with the caption pasted on the back, is probbaly taken from a magazine article related to the traveling exhibition African Sculpture, which was scheduled to open shortly thereafter, in late January 1970, at the National Gallery in Washington, before moving to other venues (William Rockhill Nelson Gallery, Kansas City, Missouri; Brooklyn Museum).
The exhibition included 193 pieces from public and private collections in Europe, Africa, and North America. The African sculptures were selected by William Fagg of the British Museum, who also authored the exhibition catalog: African Sculpture, by William Fagg. Washington, DC: International Exhibitions Foundation, 1970.
