Biografia

Born in Florence, Graziella Laffi studied drawing, painting, and architecture before turning her attention to silversmithing. In 1947, after World War II, she emigrated to Peru with her parents. Her father, Gino Laffi, opened the workshop Casa Laffi in Lima, where he produced silverwork influenced by contemporary Italian tastes; it was there that Graziella developed her remarkable skills as a silversmith. Deeply fascinated by Peru, she traveled extensively, studying its antiquities and was inspired by the country’s desire to forge a modern artistic identity rooted in pre-Columbian motifs. Laffi began collecting and carefully preserving pre-Columbian objects and textiles, reflecting her interest in the country’s ancient past. She donated numerous pieces from her collection to several Italian museums, including 69 precious ancient Peruvian textiles, given in 1997 and preserved at the International Museum of Ceramics (MIC) in Faenza since 2012.
