The work is reproduced in the monograph and accompanied by the following caption: Art of Oceania, Solomon Islands, Choiseul. Pierced slab. Tridacna shell; 30 × 23 cm. Basel, Museum für Völkerkunde. The slab, which evokes a face with a crown adorned with crouching figures, decorated a hut reserved for men.
The same work is reproduced at the opening of the essay Oceania, written by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti and published in the journal selezioneArte (XII, no. 67, January–February 1964, pp. 9–17).
