Descrizione
Page from the catalogue Pre-Columbian Mexico. 3,000 Years of Art (Venice, Doge’s Palace), referring to two exhibited works. These are two mosaic-decorated dagger hilts: the first depicts a kneeling human figure, possibly a priest, wearing an elaborate headdress and orejeras (ear ornaments). The second hilt, instead, represents a crouching human figure with an animal head—possibly a serpent or a reptile—with open jaws and a curved snout.
