Lucas, Uliano

Italian photojournalist who began his career at a young age in the artistic milieu of Brera, choosing photography as a means of storytelling and civic engagement. During the 1960s and 1970s, he documented social movements, wars of liberation, and urban transformations, collaborating with publications such as L’Espresso, Il manifesto, and La Stampa. Through reportage work in Italy, Africa, Asia, and the Balkans, he addressed issues including migration, labour, psychiatry, and social marginality. His approach combines a critical eye, historical depth, and aesthetic sensitivity. In the 2000s, he expanded his research to projects on motherhood, prisons, cooperation, and social change, while maintaining a consistent and narrative-driven style.
