Ashtray

Rectangular soft-paste porcelain ashtray with celadon glaze [inv. 3257]. Richard-Ginori Ceramic Society, 1930 (decoration and form). In this case, the reference to non-Western cultures partly concerns the relief decoration (small birds on a branch that could be cherry) but is primarily related to the material of the object. The ashtray is part of a series of works made in porcelain and coated with celadon glaze, clearly inspired by Chinese tradition.
