Vase in the shape of a hunchback

The photograph is accompanied by the brief caption: “Vase in the shape of a hunchback. Santarém; State of Pará. Brazil. Philadelphia, University Museum” and by a more extensive description: “Vase in the shape of a hunchback. H. cm 43. Santarém; State of Pará. Brazil. Philadelphia, University Museum. Numerous terracottas, of a varied and imaginative style, come from a necropolis that was likely located where the present-day city of Santarém now stands. This figure, of an unusually sober style, holds a rattle in one hand, while a bag hangs from one shoulder.”
