The photo was taken by Polimeni during the work the Conference of Solidarity with the Peoples of the Portuguese Colonies, held in Rome in June 1970; the image shows the hall of the Palazzo dei Congressi with the participants in a moment of break from work. In the hall there are panels with photographs, maps and graphic material of the participating countries; in the background on the right is a poster of the 1969 Solidarity for the Liberation of Angola, with photographs by Augusta Conchiglia.
