Biografia

Giuliano Gori was an Italian textile entrepreneur and collector of contemporary art. He began collecting in the postwar period and in the 1970s transferred his collection from his residence in Prato to the Fattoria di Celle estate in Santomato, near Pistoia, where he developed a collection of environmental and site-specific art installed throughout the park and the historic villa. Open to the public since 1982, the Fattoria is regarded as one of the earliest Italian examples of an environmental art collection and has involved Italian and international artists in the creation of works conceived specifically for the site. Gori was also among the founding members of the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato and took part in numerous cultural initiatives promoting contemporary art. In 2024 he was posthumously awarded an honorary doctorate in Architecture, Design, Knowledge, and Conservation of Cultural Heritage by the University of Florence, in recognition of his contribution to the field of art and cultural heritage.
