Descrizione
The State Archives of Florence preserve about 80 km of documents dating from the 8th century to the present, organized into more than 750 fonds. After being housed in the Uffizi until 1988, following the flood of 1966 they were transferred to the building in Piazza Beccaria, inaugurated in 1989. The Archives carry out activities of preservation, protection, and consultation of documents, promote cultural and educational initiatives, and host a School of Archival Science, Paleography, and Diplomatics. The reading room is used by Italian and international scholars, also through digital resources.
