Biografia

Tullio Tentori was an Italian anthropologist. During his university years, his intense attendance at the Luigi Pigorini National Prehistoric and Ethnographic Museum and the Lateran Ethnological Missionary Museum allowed him to consolidate his interests in the native North American populations, which would constitute the theme of his first researches. From 1946 to 1955 he worked at Pigorini Museum. Winner of a scholarship from the Viking Fund in 1949, he went to the United States to analyze the major anthropological museums. He returned taking on a difficult scientific mission destined to have a profound impact on both his career and the overall structure of Italian anthropological disciplines: introducing American cultural anthropology into Italy, giving it a strong applicative imprint, a discipline aimed at the study of the problems of contemporary society.
