Album 1F

An album compiled by Emilio Tadini, consisting of 58 perforated sheets used only on the reverse side and held together in a ring binder marked on the spine with the alphanumeric code 1F. Part of a group of more than seventy notebooks and sketchbooks, unlike the folders in which the artist recorded his reflections on his readings, the “1F” contains only visual sources. Many are photographs, while many others are graphite and pen drawings (never completed on the notebook pages themselves). Together, they testify to Tadini’s engagement with, and reinterpretation of, non-European cultures through a process of visual reception and re-reading.
